Bashi-Dapnari 11km section of highway opened today and traffic was diverted on a new alignment.

New road officially was opened by Prime-Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili , Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili, Chairman of Roads Department George Seturidze and Ambassador of Japan to Georgia Mr. Toshio KAITANI.

11km Bashi-Dapnari section includes 9 km section of Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road ( 24 km road) and 2 km (2 lane)  section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road ( 11,5 km road). Mentioned road section starts from Bashi interchange and connects existing road in Dapnari.

Two lane cemente-concrete cover has been laid on 9km section of Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road, 5 bridges and overpasses have been arranged. Construction works were implemented by “TODINI Costruzion Generali SPA” TAKENAKA CIVIL ENGINEERING&CONSTUCTION CO. LTD“. Donor is Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

2 km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road envisages construction of four-lane asphalt-concrete road. Project is being implemented by Ukrainian company “Road Building ALTCOM” under the financing of European Investment Bank.

As a result of the new road, vehicles moving on east-west direction will move considerably fast and comfortable without entry Samtredia City. After transfer to the new road level of traffic safety will rise, transportation costs would be reduced and will contribute transit traffic growth.
