Asian Development Bank planning to increase investments in Georgia

Asian Development Bank plans to increase investments in Georgia. ADB will participate in the development of the Country’s transit and tourist potential and will fund construction of a 24 km long road – Kvesheti-Kobi section which is the part of a Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi international road. These and other issues were discussed today at the meeting held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia attended by the Minister, Mrs. Maia Tskitishvili, First Deputy Minister, Heads of sub-agencies of the Ministry and Director General of Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank, Mr. Werner Liepach, as well as the Director of ADB Resident Representation in Georgia, Mrs. Yesim Elhan-Kayalar. At the meeting the parties reviewed projects completed, ongoing and planned within the frames of Urban Service Development Investment Program (USDIP). The program is already financing construction-rehabilitation projects in the fields of road infrastructure, municipal and urban transport and water supply. In addition to the above-mentioned issue, the parties also discussed large-scale water supply and water discharge projects ongoing in 13 cities, funded by the ADB. ADB has made more than USD 2 bln in Georgia within 10 years. The parties highlighted the importance of cooperation and agreed on further broadening of partnership. After the meeting the Minister presented a gift to Mr. Liepach.
