CONFERENCE: TOWARDS A MORE EFFICIENT LOCAL GOVERNMENT - IS BEING HELD IN BATUMI

International conference: Towards a More Efficient Local Government in Eastern Partnership countries: New Ways and Tools Sharing the experience is being held in Batumi. The event is co-organized by European Council and the Ministry of regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia within the frameworks of program of cooperation of Council of Europe and the European Union's Eastern Partnership: STRENGTHENING INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORKS FOR LOCAL GOVERNANCE.
The conference is aimed to provide with information about the progress achieved in the field of local self-governance the stakeholders, to exchange experience among the municipalities and discuss new cooperation opportunities. The directions of financial independence of local municipalities will be discussed at the conference as well.
Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mr. Shergelashvili opened the conference. The event is attended by the heads of local governments, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, experts and officials from the relevant departments of the Eastern Partnership countries. 2-day conference will be closed on July 8.
