Construction works on Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road are ongoing

Construction of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road of E60 highway is in the last phase. The construction project envisages construction of four-lane highway with cement concrete pavement and different type artificial structures: arrangement of 9 parallel bridges, 2 interchanges, 5 pedestrian bridges, underpasses and reinforced concrete culverts. Minister of regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Zurab Alavidze and Chairman of Roads Department George Seturidze have inspected ongoing works on-site. As a result of construction of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road, traffic safety of vehicles will be increased, transit costs will be reduced and transit traffic will be increased. Mentioned section is the main part of spatial development of the country, one of the directions considered in four-point plan initiated by Prime Minister George Kvirikashvili. Construction of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road will be completed in spring 2017. Construction works are financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. A total of 360 people are employed in the works.
