“Council of Europe will proceed with supporting our reforms and Georgian concerning occupied territories”

On November 7th, in Strasburg, Vice Premier of Georgia, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili conducted the meeting with the newly elected President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Andres Knape and Secretary General Andreas Kiefer. At the meeting the parties talked about significantly positive Report of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, on condition of local and regional democracy of Georgia and about the recommendations issued by the Congress. Maya Tskitishvili thanked the Congress for the work conducted, as well as for sharing the best practice and experience gained for years and for that fair and positive assessment that the Monitoring Team of the Congress developed within the Report as a result of the visit dated April 2018. “The general attitude towards Georgia is very positive and interest to our reforms is high. Today we have had a talk with the newly elected President of the Congress and its Secretary General pertaining to the issues that we are facing nowadays on the occupied territories and on the sites adjacent to the conflict zone demarcation line. We do get the political support on these issues on a permanent basis and it is of considerable significance that the President of the Congress who was elected yesterday, confirmed to us that the Council of Europe will proceed with supporting our reforms and Georgia concerning occupied territories” – Maya Tskitishvili stated. Vice Premier of Georgia, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili participated in the 35th Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe that was conducted on November 7th in Strasburg.
