Didgori Complex Rehabilitation Project is Launched

Today, under the festive occasion dedicated to Didgoroba, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Nodar Javakhishvili, and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze were visiting Didgori in Tetritskaro Municipality.    

On the instructions of the Government of Georgia,  the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is commencing the project for rehabilitation of Didgori memorial complex and arrangement of tourist infrastructure in its adjoining area.   Project, with the total cost of GEL 2 mln. will contribute to improvement of tourist infrastructure of Tetritskaro and Mtskheta Municipalities.  

The project envisages rehabilitation of individual elements of the memorial: monuments and bells, throughout the whole territory of Didgori memorial complex. There will be 3 belvederes (including access roads) constructed in the most outstanding sections of Nichbisi-Didgori-Diditoneti motor road. Parking lots and toilets will be arranged as well.

The project also provides for arrangement of tourist information centers “Zeda Sakudari” and “Kveda Sakudari”.

After project completion, the visitors will have a possibility to familiarize with Didgori history, obtain all types of information, purchase Georgian souvenirs.    

The sculptor Merab Berdzenishvili, who also is the author of Didgori Memorial Complex will advise on the design and construction works.
