Due to avalanche hazard, implementation of road cleaning works is not yet possible on Gudauri-Kobi section

Based on information of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, according to the National Environmental Agency, avalanche hazard is active on Gudauri (Posta)-Kobi section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi international road. Therefore, traffic is forbidden for all types of vehicles on this section.
According to the Department, when avalanche hazard is active, not only traffic, but also road cleaning works with heavy equipment is forbidden.  
During heavy snowfalls, Roads Department and its contractor organization are working in 24-hour mode, after removal of avalanche hazard mode and issuance of road cleaning permit by the National Environmental Agency, Roads Department will promptly start road cleaning works and traffic will be resumed as soon as possible.
Roads Department recommends travelers to follow traffic restrictions on roads and avoid movement in this direction when avalanche hazard is active, for their own safety.
