Ilia Begiashvili got familiar with the ongoing construction works

Rehabilitation works over water supply system and road infrastructure are ongoing in Lagodekhi municipality. Water supply project started in 2015, though the project was amended with a couple of changes due to which it was not finished within the initially set timeframes.

Road project started last year and, according to the Municipal Development Fund (MDF), works were hampered in the village of Vashlovani too, because of depreciated water pipes. MDF authorities say that potable water will be connected to the new network within two weeks, after which road rehabilitation works will be renewed.  

Protraction of the two projects caused discontent in local population.

Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mr. Ilia Begiashvili and State Representative-Governor in Kakheti region, visited the site.

“For a long time water supply has been a challenging issue for the population of Lagodekhi. Thus, rehabilitation of the whole system in the municipality is a significant project because of its scales. In addition, we will also speed up improvement of road infrastructure in the village of Vashlovani; this is the main tourist road, leading to the protected area. Completion of the projects will solve water supply and traffic movement problems. The new infrastructure will serve to both local population and tourists, as well“ – Mr. Ilia Begiashvili said.

Term for completion of both projects is August. The projects are funded by the European Investment Bank. Their total cost amounts to around GEL 15 mln.
