Maya Tskitishvili inspected construction works of residential buildings for internally displaced people on-site

Within the program to ensure internally displaced people with long-term residential apartments, construction works of multistory buildings are underway in Kutaisi and Tskaltubo. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili inspected construction process envisaged by the program on-site. Construction of 12 residential buildings considered for 1280 families is planned in Kutaisi. At this stage, construction of one building is completed. Apartments were given to 160 internally displaced families as private property. At present, construction of three 16-storey buildings is ongoing. 
“As you are aware, a function of construction of residential apartments for displaced people was given to our Ministry one month ago, therefore, I observe construction process together with my team. Unfortunately, construction on this specific site in Kutaisi is ongoing behind the schedule; I have remarks regarding the quality. At this stage, Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau carries out inspections of the building in terms of quality and scope of performed works, in order to ensure complete transfer process to the Ministry. We will cooperate with the contractor in order to remediate all the defects revealed by us. In sum, the project is very important and gradual construction of residential apartments for internally displaced people in Kutaisi has been planned” – declared Mrs. Tskitishvili. 
Period for completion of works is determined after making a relevant optimal decision in terms of remediation of defects. The cost of remaining construction works is about 85, 000, 000 GEL.
Within the same program, construction of eight residential buildings with 70 apartments is planned in Tskaltubo municipality. At this stage, construction of two buildings is ongoing, and due to low construction pace, penalty sanctions are imposed against the contractor. 
The total cost of the project is more than 40 million GEL. After completion of the project, 140 families will be provided with residential areas. 
Today, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure also inspected progress of other infrastructure projects in Imereti in order to monitor projects.
