Maya Tskitishvili – We welcome cooperation with European Partners within the frames of local self-government reform

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili held a meeting with the Delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

Minister introduced the members of the Delegation with the changes, vision and plans of the governing team.
The parties highlighted the importance of decentralization of the functions and finances, as well as building capacities of local self-governments and participation of the representatives of local authorities in decision-making process.

Members of the Delegation of the CoE are holding meeting with the representatives of local authorities within the frames of the Monitoring Mission. The Mission aims at checking the level of democracy of local self-governments across European states and their compliance with the European Charter of Local self-governments.

A Monitoring Report prepared by the representatives of the Congress will be submitted to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for drafting respective resolutions and recommendations.

Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili emphasized that the Georgian side welcomes involvement of European partners in the reform process.
