Meeting with Mr. Carlo Natale, the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Georgia was held

At the MRDI meeting with Mr. Carlo Natale, the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Georgia was held. Within the framework of the meeting, Mr. Revaz Kakulia, the Head of the European Integration, Reforms and Innovations Department of the Ministry, gave a comprehensive discourse on the recent developments, achievements, current situation, and future plans and perspectives in regard with the regional development of Georgia; he stressed out that the planning and implementation process of regional development policy in Georgia is in full compliance with the undertaken Association Agreement obligations; furthermore, the new instruments of regional development policy of Georgia are being implemented in accordance with the EU member States’ best practices within the framework of the regional cohesion.
The Head of the Department expressed his gratitude towards EU for its support in these processes, and made a statement about the importance and necessity for increasing of EU technical and financial assistance, noting that Georgia, on its side, is ready for effective absorption of the assistance.
On his part, the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Georgia discussed the opportunity of extending the cooperation with the EC DG REGIO (Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy). He also accentuated the fact that in December 2015 all the EU member states ratified the Association Agreement with Georgia, which means that the Agreement will be activated in full force within the nearest future.
