Nodar Javakhishvili: Additional heavy equipment has been mobilized on motor roads
5 January 2016
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili visited several regions of Georgia to observe the situation on motor roads and ensure provision of additional needs.
After Rikoti Pass the Minister visited Abasha-Senaki and Zestafoni-Kutaisi sections of Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze international road; he also visited Samtredia-Lanchkhuti-Grigoleti, Kutaisi new bypass road, Senaki-Poti-Sarpi and Chaladidi-Khorga-Khobi motor roads.
Currently the limitations due to heavy snowfall on international and secondary motor roads are minimized. All major roads are passable as a result of cleaning works carried out in the Western part of Georgia, in particular, in Samegrelo and Imereti. Representatives of the Roads Department of Georgia have been cleaning roads non-stop for 24 hours since December 31 throughout Georgia.
As a result of intensive cleaning works on the roads, traffic for every type of vehicles is free on: Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze, Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi and Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi (Azerbaijani border) motor roads.
Due to snow and slippery ice special regimes for traffic movement has been established on the following road sections:
Movement for trailer, semitrailer and buses with more than 30 passenger seats is prohibited on Aragvispira-Larsi section of Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Larsi motor road. Movement for the rest of the types of vehicles on Mleta-Gudauri(Posta) section is allowed only with ice chains. Movement for vehicles with two and more driving wheel is free on Aragvispira-Mleta and kobi-Larsi sections.
Traffic movement on Nakerala pass is allowed only with ice chains while movement for vehicles with two or more driving wheels is free.
Movement on km30-km70 (Jvari-Khaishi) section of Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili motor road is allowed for vehicles with two or more driving wheels. Movement for the rest of the types of vehicles is prohibited. Traffic movement on km71-km188 (Khaishi-Ushguli) of the same roads is allowed with ice chains. Movement for vehicle with two or more driving wheels is free.
Due to bad weather conditions – intensive snowfall, blizzard and bad visibility – and in order to ensure safety of road users, traffic movement has been prohibited on the following sections:
Traffic movement for every type of vehicle is prohibited on km110 – km146 (Rodionovka – Ninotsminda) section of Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road.
