Regional Development Projects were Discussed by Maya Tskitishvili and WB Mission

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the World Bank Mission members provided information to Minister, Maya Tskitishvili and Deputy Ministers Mzia Giorgobiani and Grigol Kaisi regarding infrastructure projects financed by the Bank in Imereti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions. The parties specifically discussed the second project of regional development (RDP 2), implemented by the Municipal Development Fund. The project consists of several components: infrastructure investment, urban restoration and development of tourist route. This component envisages urban renovation of Tskaltubo city, financing investment projects for tourism routes, including public places, museums, roads and water systems, restoration of buildings, as well as rebuilding and restoration of cultural heritage monuments and institutional development. The third project of regional development (RDP III) includes rehabilitation of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti urban and tourism infrastructure, popularization of cultural heritage and historical monuments and promotion of private sector in this direction. Regional development projects aim at the development of tourism potential of the country by supporting infrastructure services and institutional capacities that will contribute to employment of local population and increase the number of visitors.
