Rehabilitation of Sapara road was finalized before its due time

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Nodar Javakhishvili visited renovated access road to Saphara monastery. It has to be mentioned that rehabilitation of 7.2 km road section, which was without asphalt covering, was finalized before its due time. MDF was an implementation entity of the project financed by World Bank with amount of GEL 3 349 000. 

Saphari monastery which represents cultural heritage monument in Samtskhe -Javakheti region is located 10 km distance from Akhaltsikhe. Before commencement of reconstruction works there was an earth access road to the monastery, which caused movement difficulties during bed weather conditions.   

Within the project framework 2 layer asphalt concrete cover, concrete parapets and safety signs were arranged as well as road marking works were performed. As a result of rehabilitation works access to the monastery will become easy for parish and monks residing in monastery as well as for visitors.
