Rehabilitation of the monastery and tourist infrastructure is being carried out in David Gareji

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Nodar Javakhishvili visited rehabilitation works of David Gareji Monastery along with the Deputy Minister, Ilia Darchiashvili and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze. The project is implemented by the Municipal Development Fund under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia through financial aid of the World Bank and the Government of Georgia. The project aims at contributing to preservation of the monuments of cultural heritage and supporting development of tourist infrastructure.
The project covers rehabilitation of the facades of the cells of the monastery, ensuring amenities in them as well as provision of water supply, waste water system and electric power, visitors’ center and car park. The project also covers development of the territory nearby the monastery.
Total cost of the project amounts to GEL 1 mln. The number of people employed at the works is around 30.
